Jeddah TowerSaudi Arabia’s landmark mega-tall mixed-use tower, achieved a construction milestone in Dec 2025, surpassing 80 floors. This 1-km megatower, paused for years, restarted in January 2025 and now adds a floor every 3-4 days, eyeing a 2028 finish to claim the world’s tallest crown from Dubai’s Burj Khalifa.

When completed, it is set to become the first human-made structure to reach a full kilometre, said Thornton Tomasetti, a leading US engineering consulting firm, involved in the mega project.

The tower is the first phase of a larger project called the “Jeddah Economic City”, which will be located in an area of 5,202,570 square metres. It will include various buildings, including residences, shops, and offices.

It will consist of 59 elevators and 12 escalators. There will also be three sky lobbies to prevent any one elevator from having to go all the way to the top, eliminating the need for excessively huge cables.
